1. Participation in the 2012 Pet Parade Contest requires payment of an $18 entry fee. All federal, state, local and municipal laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited.

2. Unless subjected by restrictions stated below, entries will be published in a printed supplement in The Crescent-News on Wednesday, June 20th and also be entered in an the “Favorite Pet” contest on Crescent-News.com.

3. Individuals submitting entry must own the pet, be 18 years or older at time of entry and be a resident of the United States. Employees of The Defiance Publishing Company, contest sponsors and affiliates, and their immediate family members, are not eligible to win contest prizes.

4. To enter, submit a completed Official Entry Form along with a photo of the pet and $18 entry fee. Entry forms can be found in editions of The Crescent- News and are available at The Crescent-News office. Entries can be mailed or dropped off at The Crescent-News Office, 624 W. Second Street, Defiance, Ohio 43512. Business hours are weekdays between 8:00 a.m and 5:00 p.m. Make checks payable to The Crescent-News. Entries can also be submitted through the contest web page at www.crescent-news.com. To enter on-line, complete the form, upload a digital photo and enter credit card payment.

5. All entries and photos must be received by 5:00 p.m. by Friday, June 1, 2012.

6. Entries with incomplete or incorrect information may not be used. The Crescent-News is not responsible for lost, damaged or misdirected entries.

7. Photos must be of the pet alone to be entered in the contest. Other photos of multiple pets and/or pets with their owners will be accepted for the printed supplement but not the contest. Additional charges for proper space requirements will be determined upon submission. Printed photos should be of reproducible quality. Kiosk and color printer copies cannot be accepted. Digital photos should be in JPG format and 240 dpi. Professionally taken photos must have permission of the photographer. The contest entrant will assume all liability for charges and legal consequences incurred from any copyright infringement. Photos can be picked up after the contest at The Crescent-News or will be mailed back if a self-addressed stamped envelope is provided with entry.

8. Contest voting is open to the general public, limited to persons 18 years of age or older. Votes may be submitted in person during business hours at The Crescent-News office, by mail or online. Each vote costs 50 cents. There is no limit to the number of votes a person can make. Voting totals will be posted online as they are received. Voting will be done in two rounds. The first round of voting will begin on Sunday, June 3, 2012 and concludes at noon Monday, June 11, 2012. Mail-in and in-person votes for the first round must be received before 11 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012. The top 50 receiving votes during Round One will move on to the second round. Votes from Round One DO NOT carry over to Round Two. The second round of voting will begin on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 and end at noon Monday, June 18, 2012. Mail-in and in-person votes for the second round must be received before 11 a.m. on Monday, June 18, 2012. On line votes may be cast at www.crescent-news.com using Master Card, Visa and Discover. The minimum amount of votes purchased with a credit card is $5.00. Your computer must accept cookies and ad blocking software must to be disabled so that it doesn’t interfere with processing your entry.

9. All entry and voting fees are non-cancelable and nonrefundable.

10. Winners will be determined by number of votes received in the second round. In the event of a tie the votes from the first round will be used as the tie breaker. Winners will be selected and notified by telephone or email on or about June 20, 2012.

11. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries and eligible votes received.

12. Prizes: One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a picture and story about the pet and owner in the Pet Parade edition & a $250 certificate for pet food and/or supplies. One (1) second place winner will be awarded a $100 certificate. Winners are responsible for any applicable taxes.

13. The Defiance Publishing Company reserves the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this contest as solely determined by The Crescent-News. In the event the contest is compromised by a virus, tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of The Crescent-News which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the contest, The Crescent-News reserves the right in its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the contest. The decisions of The Defiance Publishing Company regarding the selection of winners and all other aspects of the contest shall be final and binding in all respects. 14. The Crescent-News will donate a percentage of the voting proceeds to the Fort Defiance Humane Society, Friends of Felines’ Rescue Center, and Labor of Love Dog Rescue.
